Strengtheningmental health is a enormous industry. Simply do a effortless Google search and you will realize like millions of results. However do you realize that the science behind modern neurology is very recent? Like a hundred years young? And that is not even taking into account the new discovery of neuroplasticity (your brain’s ability to transform) – a discovery that changed what how neurologists see the brain and the birth of brain exercises and memory exercises.

In this post, I want to reveal 2 things that many individual fail to do when it comes to retaining and strengthening their mental health. Since the science is very new, don’t be shocked if even experts omitted these. Here we go.

1. You might already understand that brain exercises can strengthen brain capacity. That is because when presented with a challenge, your brain adapts and become stronger, just like your muscles. However do you realize that there’s a crucial elements that scientists take for granted? When challenges were presented to 2 groups of rats – 1 in a group with regular social interaction and the other in seclusion, the outcome were quite contrasting. The rats in groups had numerous neurons – as expected – but the brains of the rats in seclusion actually become smaller! Yes, brain exercises can boost your mental health, although this is true only providing that you have normal social interaction.

2. You might not realize this however open space had a great influence on your psychology. A study was once conducted by John B. Calhoun, again on rats. When space is abundant, the rats behaved as imagined in an ideal universe he place them in. However when they breed and space became scarce, he observed unusual transformation in the rat’s behavior. Females refuse to reproduce and become increasingly hostile while guys became withdrawn and stopped courtship. Unsocial restriction had much been adopted as a torture tool therefore don’t use it on yourself. Go out to some open space, preferably out of town, at worst once a week. You will enjoy the experience.
