The Cause Of Panic Attacks

So what is the cause of Panic Attacks?

Well panic attacks are caused out of nowhere. So we will ask, what is the reason or cause of panic or fright attacks? Like one moment you are ok, and the very next moment you start crying. Yet many patients fail to realize that the panic attack does not just happen out of nowhere. Thus, many patients fail to know that panic attacks are result of just nowhere. At first, the attack is result of a certain stimulus. It could be a particular person, a place, or even a smell. Anyways for lowering down the panic attacks; it is must to prevent their causes.
The particular triggers or cause of panic attacks can be either internal or external. Internal causes of panic attacks are memories, feelings, certain thoughts, and physical sensations like headaches. Whereas external causes of panic attacks are a cause of sudden changes in lighting, temperature, or sound level, strange smells or sounds, and certain places.

Now then why does a particular taste or smell causes a panic attack? Just think about a person suffering from peanut allergy. Peanuts usually are harmless to the body, and normal people’s immune systems do not react. However, the allergic individual’s immune system is hypersensitive, and reacts as if peanuts were deadly poison. Likewise, a person suffering from peanut allergy may have inherited a sensitive nervous system that forces him to react with peanuts.

How does this happen? Let us say for an instance your trigger is a texture of linen. You are travelling, and you spend the night at a motel. You get to slip into the bed of linen sheets. For some strange reason, you begin to sweat. You definitely do not want to have another panic attack. And, your anxiety builds up when the attack turns full-fledged.

KEEP AVOIDING TRIGGERS AND THINGS THAT CAUSE PANIC ATTACKS:

Ideally, you need to avoid triggers. If you stay away from triggers, you can prevent panic attacks. With the linen example, you can substitute other fabrics for linen. And, if you are allergic to sensitive lights then stop moving to dance clubs. Just few other changes in your life can protect your sanity.

FACE UP TO YOUR TRIGGERS :

Even though you will wish to avoid panic attacks or its triggers, they are not always within your control. For example, it is difficult to avoid the smell of cigarettes, as you cannot control whether a passerby smokes or not. And, thus few patients continuously try to accustom themselves for knowing their sensitivity towards the stimulus by repeating its exposure.

I know that you would be anxious to try so, and why not? None wants to suffer from a panic attack on a purpose. However, getting used to your triggers will reduce the frequency of your panic attacks in the long run. Like persons suffering from phobias do expose themselves to the kind of fear. Although initially they are terrified, they gradually begin to lose their irrational fear.

Remember it is important to always contact a doctor or psychiatrist before confronting the cause of panic attacks. He or she may have some pointers regarding this exercise, such as how long you should be in contact with the trigger, or what techniques you can use to fight your fear. Also, if you are having a heart condition this may not prove good to you.

Generally, for most, it is best to increase the exposure gradually. Don’t worry if in the initial stages you fail to fight the cause of panic attacks. . It’s fine because everything takes time to work.
